Aims: 1) Exploring the pragmatics from different aspects such as nature, origin, and theoretical position; 2) Giving evidences and instances for theoretical and practical relationships between pragmatics and information science. Methodology: The document- analytic method was used.Results: The pragmatics is a branch of semiotics and linguistics and emphasizes on relationships of signs with their interpreters, also meaning in context. It has been developed by both philosophers and linguists and indicates a change in paradigm. Found evidences for theoretical relationships of the pragmatics and information science are: Fundamental linkage between meaning and information, same science-meaning dilemma, semiotics as a basis for studying the information nature, role of pragmatics in modern views and theories of information and communication, and context as a key common concept. Finally, found instances for practical relationship of the pragmatics with the information science includes: Development of the pragmatic web, applying the pragmatics in information interaction studies, and adapting the relevance theory of pragmatics in the information science. Conclusion: This study is expected to make new ways for information science researches especially in the information interaction era.

Purpose: The purpose of the present research is to survey the compatibility rate of Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) catalog cards of National Library and Archive of the Islamic Republic of Iran (NLAI) on title page versos of books with related records included in Rasa software. Methodology: research is a survey of content analysis type and a researcher-made questionnaire has been employed to gather data. Data analysis has been performed using descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage. Results: data analysis indicated that the compatibility rate of CIP catalog cards of NLAI on title page versos of books with related records included in Rasa software is some 92%. The incompatibility rate of CIP catalog cards of NLAI on title page versos of books with related records included in Rasa software is 28.94% for physical description, 15.78% for statement of responsibility, 14.91% for notes, 10.08% for subject added entries, 7.89% for title, 7.01% for non-subject added entries, 5.7% for name of publisher, and LC and DDC classification numbers, 3.07% for main entry and series, 0.87% for place of publication, and 0.43 for edition areas. Conclusion: based on research findings concerning a 92% compatibility rate of CIPs on title page versos of books with related records in Rasa software, it can be concluded that publishers have understood the importance of CIP records, provide NLAI with correct bibliographic information, and do not change CIP information on title page versos of their books

Abstract: The purpose of the present survey is to study the status of knowledge documentation in SCU registrars from the registrars’ employees’ viewpoints in SCU. The research is a survey of a descriptive-analytical type. The questionnaires were distributed among 110 registrars’ employees in SCU. To analyze the data, some descriptive and inferential statistical tests were employed. Findings indicate that the documentation status is relatively desirable, and the employees’ awareness of documentation values is high. Based on employees’ viewpoints, five instructional, behavioral, technological, legal, and structural infrastructures and factors were found necessary for documentation. Transmission of employees' experiences to others before retirement, experienced registrars’ employees privilege of intellectual property rights, publication of a documented manual of knowledge and important actions performed in registrars, and the publication of employees’ documented knowledge in specialized periodicals or as books were among mechanisms identified to improve and develop the documentation system in registrars. هدف. انگیزۀ اصلی پژوهشگران از نوشتن این مقاله بیان وجود نوعی آشفتگی در کاربرد کلمه "افسانۀ عامیانه" در کتابها و مقالات مربوط به ادبیات و متون ادبی مربوط به ایران و ارائۀ تعریفی برای افسانۀ عامیانه است. ضرورت بحث درباره علل آشفتگی در کاربرد و بیان معانی مختلف واژة "افسانه" به این دلیل است که پژوهشگرانی که منابع ادبی را مورد بررسی قرار میدهند با این مغالطه آشنا شوند و در پژوهشهای خویش، معنای واحدی از افسانه را به کار گیرند. اکنون با پژوهشگرانی مواجه هستیم که معنای درست "افسانه" و کاربرد آن را نمیدانند. این پژوهش در پی آن است که معنای یکسانی را پس از مطالعه منابع مختلف مربوط به ادبیات، ارائه دهد.
روش: این بررسی به روش کتابخانه ای و با تکیه بر متون و منابع معتبر موجود و نیز در مشورت با اساتید اهل این حوزه صورت گرفته است.
یافته ها و نتیجه گیری: مقالۀ حاضر مشتمل بر دو بخش است. در بخش نخست، پس از بیان انگیزۀ نگارش مقاله، به تعریف افسانه، پرداخته و پس از آن اشتباههای مکرر نویسندگان و مترجمان ایرانی در کاربرد کلمه افسانه به جای قصه و اسطوره بررسی و نمونههایی از این به هم ریختگی در کاربرد این لغات به جای هم بیان میشود. در بخش دوم پیشنهادهایی برای پرهیز از این اشتباهها ذکر و ضمن ارائۀ چند پیشنهاد، تعریفی برای افسانۀ عامیانه پیشنهاد میگردد.

Aim: This study aimed at examination of differences existing in cataloging in publication data of various editions of works and standards used, as well as their impact on their assembly and retrieval. Method: Case study approach was used in this research in which records belonging to a book entitled Memoirs of An Ass, that was reprinted 7 times from 1378-1390, were selected for examination. Findings: Results of the study revealed that the difference detected among records, not only impact on retrieval and assembly of works, but also they affect the implementation of FRBR in the information storage and retrieval systems. Conclusion: the results showed that CIP records are not suitable tools for information storage and retrieval systems and the problems they have is troublesome for achieving the ultimate functionality of the library catalogs.

Aim: The aim of this study was to identify the factors effective on librarians’ awareness and use of capabilities of Pars Azarakhsh integrated library software in Shahid Chamran University and Ahvaz Jundi Shapur University of Medical Sciences.
Method: The capabilities addressed involved both the client and the server part of Pars Azarakh Software versions 4 and later. 81 librarians participated in this study. Data were gathered by means of a researcher-made questionnaire and the collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's Correlation.
Findings: The data collected revealed that librarians utilize the PA software very little. The can use only 37% of its capabilities. From the 13 capabilities of the system examined, 10 are used under 50% and the rest 3 are used more than 50%. Among all, the minimum usage belongs to the "management component in the server side, and the maximum usage related to the data entry part in the client part. The average ability of librarians in using the server part of the software was very low and was calculated to be 28.398%.
Conclusions: In general, on the contrary of the preliminary assumptions, librarians seemed not so capable of using the capabilities of Pars Azarakhsh Library System.

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to consider the extent to which electronic resource’s worksheet of National Library of Iran has used the existing & appropriate fields of UNIMARC & MARC21 for electronic resources and the changes rate of the UNIMARC fields in this worksheet was determined.
Methodology: At first all the essential fieldsof these two formats for electronic resources were identified and a mapping table of UNIMARC to MARC21 was prepared. The researchers made a unit worksheet by merging of educational CD, CDs without music and electronic resources worksheets of National Library and compared it with the identified fields of UNIMARC & MARC21.
Findings: fields 481 & 482 introducing new concepts were not found in UNIMARC & MARC21. The concepts of some were changed in order to change "Roman Numbers" to "Sequential Numbers" and from "Copy Date" to "Tale Date". These subfields with their new concepts were not in UNIMARC & MARC21. The findings revealed that UNIMARC and MARC21 didn't have 51 & 84 subfields of electronic resource worksheet respectively, and electronic resources’ worksheet didn’t have 51 fields and 55 subfields of UNIMARC and 109 MARC21 fields.
Suggestions: Our suggestion is to apply unused fields & subfields of UNIMARC inelectronic resource’s worksheet. For a more complete and compatible worksheet, attention to unused MARC21 fields and subfields and having them confirmed by PUC is necessary.
Values: Electronic resources’ worksheet of National Library is based on UNIMARC. Comparing it with UNIMARC showed the unused potentials of UNIMARC. Since MARC21 is more updated, has more metadata schemes and is used by many countries, identifying and using the MARC21 fields for Electronic resources can make a more adapted Iranian worksheet for new demands in this age.
